Dr. Seuss was born Theodor Seuss Geisel, and he was referred to as Ted to his family members and friends. His household was German. He was not a doctor, although he did take into account pursuing a PhD in English. He went to Oxford following attending Dartmouth and he studied English there. He met his future wife when his classmate, Helen Palmer, looked over and told him that he did not really desire to be a professor, he definitely just wanted to draw! She completed her M.A and they married. Dr. Seuss did receive honorary doctorate degrees later in life, which includes ones from Dartmouth and Princeton.
