The annual New York Comedy Festival (NYCF), in association with Comedy Central, will take place Nov. 3-7 and features a pair of headliners from the NBC Thursday night comedy lineup: Community's Joel McHale and Parks and Recreation's Aziz Ansari. More than 150 comedians-like Margaret Cho, Gabriel Iglesias, Brian Regan, and Nick Swardson-will take the stage at more than 10 venues, such as Caroline's On Broadway.

Speaking about the fall event, Caroline's On Broadway owner and NYCF Founder Caroline Hirsch tells the Huffington Post, "The New York Comedy Festival has become THE destination for legendary and rising comedic talent." Ansari is clearly among the "legendary" artists lined up for the festival, as his NYCF appearance will take place at iconic New York venue Carnegie Hall.

Fans don't have to wait until November to see funny guy Aziz Ansari perform at the New York Comedy Festival though, as Aziz Ansari tickets are available already to see his standup routines in cities like Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, Ga.; San Diego, Calif.; Houston, Texas; Austin, Texas and San Francisco, Calif. Ansari will remain on the road through November, so fans will have ample time to see the comedian the New York Times has described as "a 27-year-old performer with a bearded baby face."

Raised in Columbia, S.C., Ansari began honing his standup skills in New York while attending NYU, and tells TheStar.com that although he enjoyed making people laugh while growing up, "In South Carolina, having a career meant being a doctor or a lawyer. Saying you wanted to be an actor or comedian was like saying you wanted to go to Mars." Ansari's friends persuaded him to try comedy full-time, and Rolling Stone hailed him one of the top standups of the year in 2005. His big-screen debut (in School for Scoundrels) followed, and he was hand-picked for Parks and Recreation by the show's star, Saturday Night Live alum Amy Poehler, after four hilarious episodes on Scrubs.

Despite his break from taping Parks and Recreation (which may or may not return for its second season on NBC), Aziz Ansari has stayed busy on tour this summer, and in addition to his regular tour stops, Ansari performed at Manchester, Tennessee's Bonnaroo Music Festival and also hosted the MTV Movie Awards. "That was a crazy experience. You get out there and you're doing this monologue you've honed for a long period of time, but you suddenly go out of your body while you're doing it and watch everybody else. Hey, Will Smith's kid just laughed at that joke. Uh-oh, Jackie Chan not too much into that joke. Stuff like that," Ansari recalls hosting the star-studded awards show to TheStar.com.

It may seem like Ansari has conquered the standup scene, television and movies, but he tells TheStar.com that he would still like to be a spokesman. "I want to do everything and make it as good as it can be. Because if I do everything well, then I'll be asked to be the spokesman for Old Spice Deodorant. High Endurance. That's the only one I'll do," jokes Ansari.
