Dane Cook is easily one of the biggest names in comedy. Instead of rising to fame because he was noticed by some entertainment exec, Dane Cook built his comedy empire on the adoration of his large and loyal fan base. He began as a MySpace phenomenon and has grown to selling out stadiums around the world.
Because of his superstar status, it is about time for Dane Cook to release an album of his greatest hits. He will do just that on Nov. 22, when his new album, I Did My Best - Greatest Hits, hits stores. The album will be released on Comedy Central Records and follows popular albums by Cook like Harmful If Swallowed, Retaliation, ISolated INcident and others. The greatest hits album will contain many of the favorites from Cook's stand-up career, like "The Atheist," "B & E," "The BK Lounge," "Let's Do This, I'm a Cashew" and many others.
Cook's new album is in addition to his busy touring schedule as of late. He is currently on the North American leg of his worldwide tour. In November, he has stops in cities like Memphis, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and others. Then in December, Cook has stops in Spokane, Wash.; Bozeman, Mont.; Nampa, Idaho and Reno, Nev. He is sure to release more Dane Cook tickets for 2011, and he already has one date lined up for 2011 on Feb. 5 in Dallas, Texas.
It isn't all good news for Dane Cook lately. For the last several months, Cook has been dealing with the fallout from his half-brother, Darryl McCauley, stealing from him. McCauley was part of Cook's rise to fame in the 1990s and 2000s, acting as his business manager and working on various parts of his career. He held that role until December 2008, and it was later revealed that McCauley had been stealing from his half-brother since earlier in the 2000s. In fact, SheKnows.com reported that McCauley once wrote himself a check for $3 million. McCauley eventually plead guilty to the multiple charges against him in October of 2010 and was sentenced to five to six years in prison along with 10 years of probation.
It isn't the first storm that Cook has weathered, and he has always managed to keep his humor no matter what happens. He recently gave an interview to The Post Crescent about his career, where he addressed that some call his comedy brilliant while others call him overrated. He said, "It's great. It's like watching Sandra Bullock the year she got the Razzie nomination and the Oscar. It's exactly what life is; it's just on a magnified level of a performer." Luckily for Cook, there are countless fans who love his brand of comedy.
Cook may have made a name for himself as a stand-up comedian, but he has since made his mark on the film industry as well. One of his upcoming projects is in the new horror comedy Detention, which is about a teen who goes on a killing spree during her senior year of high school. Cook has also appeared in films like My Best Friend's Girl, Dan in Real Life, Good Luck Chuck and Employee of the Month.
