Many people ask themselves what is the benefit of using loyalty cards at grocery stores and department stores as well as automotive or furniture stores. The answer is mainly because they save an individual or family money, but other times they could offer prizes or coupons for luxury items a person could really use.
Sometimes a store will offer these customer loyalty gifts to their new customers as an incentive to shop at their store and their store only. These little plastic coded credit papers offer deep discounts on 'members only' type deals. In other words, a person or family would have to be a member of the club in order to reap the advantages of one of these types of programs.
These programs often offer deals on everyday items people will use, especially at the grocery store. Items such as eggs, bread, milk, cheeses, sugar, flour and sometimes meat or fruit are given deep discounts for the people who are faithful shoppers to one of these stores. They must show their identification in order to receive the program discounts but it is worth it to carry such a small piece of plastic around for the large discounts many businesses have to offer.
Reward programs, as they are sometimes referred to, are big in just about any business out there. They offer something for everyone and if someone doesn't like what the company has to offer, like a toaster or radio, there is usually a cash reward or money off a product as an alternative.
For department stores that have a wide variety of items, from clothing to kitchen products to automotive parts and accessories, these discounts could be on just about anything. Many of the stores will give a buy one get one free item on something they have purchased a lot of or will offer customers who keep coming back a discount like buy one, get one half off in order to save on retail marketing.
The same might go for a furniture store in which people come back to purchase their new furniture to the same store and receive a free gift as an incentive or money savings on other items. Sometimes there are electronics a person may not purchase for themselves but will want if they were offered as a free gift along with a certain purchase. These items could include the latest smart phones or electronic book readers or music and game devices.
For automobile dealerships, their discounts are often in the form of trips like a cruise or a vacation the entire family could enjoy but without the airfare. These types of incentives might also be applied if a customer were to convince their friends or family to purchase a large ticket item such as a car from the same dealership they did. Another type of 'thank you' gift might be a lifetime of free oil changes on the vehicle just purchased.
So what is the benefit of using loyalty cards one might ask before signing up for them. There are many and depending on which type of store and what the store has to offer, the deals and rewards could be very lucrative.
