Boulder CO is known for its fun family events that are nestled right in the foothills. There always seems to be something going on that draws people from all over Colorado. Whether they are interested in mountainous activities, wining and dining, CU sports events, bike races, beer tasting or just walking Pearl Street; Boulder is the place to be.

This past Labor Day holiday weekend marked the 13th Annual Boulder Creek Hometown Fair. This fair is the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer and coming of fall with friends and family. This event literally has something for everyone. There were over a 100 arts and crafts vendors located in Boulder's Central Park, on the Boulder Public Library's lawn and up and down the Boulder Creek. Besides shopping for fun crafts; folks also enjoyed live performances, the Classic Car Show, the Interactive Sports and Kids Expo, the Family Fun and Fitness 5K, the Great Zucchini Race, the Big Wheel 300 Races, carnival rides and so much more. Most people who attended made sure to come hungry as there were tons of food vendors, a food court, beer tents and of course the infamous Chili Inferno Cook-Off. This year they took the Boulder "green" way of thinking to the next level and pulled off a 100% zero waste event by using only compostable, recyclable and reusable materials.

The Boulder Farmers Market is a regular event that occurs twice weekly on 13th Street right next to Central Park. It runs every Saturday from April to November from 8am-2pm and every Wednesday evening from May to October from 4pm-8pm. The Farmers Market was created as a nonprofit outlet that provides a means for local agricultural producers and other local food purveyors to sell their goods directly to the public. Although this idea is not a new one, it does offer a sustainable way for people in the Boulder area to shop and support local producers. Folks can buy everything they would regularly get at a big grocery store, right at the Farmer's Market. Wonderful local and mostly organic grown vegetables, meats, fruits, flowers, plants, gourmet cheese and wines are not the only things you will find, there are also local bakeries and restaurant vendors who have tasty sweet treats and fully prepared meals.

As with any major event, hundreds of volunteers put in endless hours to make these Boulder events possible for the guests to enjoy. So if you are looking for a fun way to spend a day outdoors, be sure to check out local newspapers and websites for Boulder's upcoming fall event calendars.
