WordPress and search engine optimization are a packaged deal because the search engines like WordPress better than other blogging formats. If you've got a blog on WordPress then chances are that it's going to get ranked better than other sites. Quite naturally, your chances will be improved if you get some things right first. There are tons of WordPress blogs in varied niches. However, because of many different things, these blogs are not ranking highly with the search engines. Your main concern is to optimize your WordPress blog for the search engines. Make sure you get certain things settled so that you can get good rankings for your specified keywords.

Create Amazing Content: Believe it or not, but many WordPress sites lack in this area and tend to lose points with the search engines. If you want to attract the search engine spiders, impress them left, right and center while getting high quality one way backlinks then you should focus on creating good, valuable content. While this is a simple thing to understand and do, not many manage to actually do it. Your primary focus needs to be on creating great content so that your WordPress site performs as well as you want it to.

Work with One Subject Only: In this day and time, WordPress blogs have any topic you can think of. Nothing is wrong with this.

However, if your intent is to maximize your SEO efforts, then you have to write about only one thing at a time. Then, use other sub topic if it is necessary. Why would you need to do this? First, it will be your visitors who will be responsible for putting new content on your blog by commenting on it. Secondly, the search engine robot will not have to figure out what your blog is about. All of this has a lot to do with how the search engines rank your site.

Use pinging services to announce to the world, and to the search engine spiders, that there's something new on your site. Ping-o-matic is the service that is commonly used by WordPress. Part of its popularity stems from the fact that once it is pinged, it turns around and pings other sites. One thing that you should keep in mind is to bring down the number of pings automatically issued by WordPress, because each time you edit your post and update it, a ping is sent out. In most cases it isn't that easy to avoid being accused of spamming if you aren't. But in this case the only thing you need to do is adjust the frequency of your pings. Make sure you use the pinging feature responsibly so that no problems come up later on. Building a site on Wordpress is incredibly common these days and, strangely, most WordPress site builders don't know that they have an automatic leg up within the search engines as long as they apply basic SEO methods. If you haven't applied the above tips to your WordPress blog yet, then you should probably do so without wasting any time so that you're able to position it for higher rankings in the long run, and get targeted traffic coming in.
