RIBA, or the Royal Institute of British Architects, to give the organisation its full name, publishes a frequent report to point out the predicted future trends in the architecture industry. This survey was initially launched during 2009 to monitor work in the market in a period of economic depression. Members complete the survey from month to month and the findings give some useful reading for those working as architects in Surrey, or elsewhere over the UK.

Despite the fact that confidence about long term work prospects had gone down slightly in May this year, the survey did declare that those practices in London along with the South of England were predicting a far more optimistic future workload outlook than their competitors in other areas of the UK. This must be good news for architects Farnham as well as their colleagues in Surrey and the other counties surrounding the capital, as this seems to be where most practices are predicting good quantities of work prospects in the coming months.

It had been expected that the forecast for work within the commercial sector could have fallen, so that came as no great surprise in the most up-to-date survey, however there was good news since the forecast for the private housing sector remains positive.

Across the industry, architects in Surrey and elsewhere throughout the UK are exercising some caution in relation to taking on new staff as the economic climate still appears so unpredictable but it is hoped that as consumer confidence increases, so too will the job opportunities in the industry. Plus this is essentially an indication of the employment situation across all sectors as the country struggles to get itself out of the downturn.

Regardless of the forecast for the economy as a whole it seems as though diversification into more housing sectors is a good way of assuring the durability of architectural practices across the UK, hence architects Farnham will be looking at new avenues of work to assist them to secure their futures.
