Just over a year ago, I began a 9 week walk/run program, designed to progress from a non-runner to a runner who could run continuously for 30 minutes. I use the Couch to 5K (C25K) running program available from the cool running website.

Although the initial weeks were somewhat taxing, the progression was sure and steady, and I completed the course successfully. Spurred on with a new found vigour and determination, I then embarked on another program called the 1 Hour Runner program. This followed on nicely from the C25K program. The first 3 weeks were 3 x 30 minute runs per week, and then adds a few minutes per week, eventually progressing to a 1 hour continuous run after 10 weeks. SO a total of 19 weeks can take you from a complete non runner to a 10km runner, not bad?

I have continued to run seriously and have now been running for well over a year. I happily tackle 15 km runs on the weekend, and do a few 5 -8k ones during the week. I have found that I have slimmed down, gained a more athletic physique, and feel vibrant, fit, and able to conquer anything I choose to attempt. It's amazing how the simple act of running can foster all these positive felling in your day to day life.

As I am preparing to run competitively, I've recently started using compression clothing to enhance my performance, these figure-hugging garments help to prevent blood from pooling in your legs, and aid circulation. I'm not sure that they have knocked minutes off my times yet, but I certainly feel fresher after the run.

I firmly believe that anyone can achieve the same results that I have, providing they follow a gradual, progressive program. It wasn't easy, but it certainly wasn't hard either. And once you have learned to run, you'll never look back. It is such a wonderfully natural activity that all humans were built to do. It's just that most of us have forgotten how.
Author Resource:- I became a runner in a very short time and you can too. I have found that Compresson Tights made my running more comfortable and seemed to aid my recovery. As a recovered snorer and sleep apnea sufferer, I have also found great releif in the off the shelf sleep apnea mouthpiece products that can be purchased to sease snoring and apnea problems. I run a lot better after a good night sleep.
