Snoring is a sleeping and breathing disorder that affects almost 40% women and 60% men over 30 years of age. Those who are affected by snoring are finding one or the other way to stop it but with the aids that are available in market many are left dissatisfied. If you are a light snorer, then nasal strips or anti snoring pills might help you, but if you snore heavily then stop-snoring surgery might be the only resort left for you.

This is comparatively an expensive decision to make. A stop-snoring surgery can cost around $1500 - $2500. And even after getting surgery done, it has been seen that some patients tend to begin snoring again after six months. A 100% solution unfortunately does not exist. This might suit few of the people but till when is still an open question!

There are four major types of Stop-snoring surgeries namely, Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), Laser Assisted Uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP), Palatal Stiffening (CAPSO) and Radio-Frequency Ablation (Somnoplasty). All these surgeries require surgical intrusions to be made around the palate. They are all safe to undergo but there is a certain degree of discomfort to be expected after the operation.

It is advisable to try non surgical remedies before trying anti-snoring surgery. If the conventional remedies have stopped working for you then the last option is to undergo surgery.

With all these surgeries, either the redundant tissues are burnt or shrink with excessive heat or uvula or tonsils are removed. The intention is to decrease the number of tissues so that there is enough space for air to pass through because if they vibrate and collide, then the problem of snoring would still remain.

It is advisable to consult a trustworthy doctor in case you are undergoing a surgery. Always give a second thought before taking any decision for surgery as there is no 100% guarantee that the problem of snoring will never come back.
Author Resource:- If you have exhausted every option, stop snoring surgery may be a possible solution. However, there are a wide range of snore aids that may be able to help you before undergoing invasive surgery. Check these links for more information.
