Things To Consider When Purchasing A Colour Printer

Many people need a colour printer either for office or home use. It is not easy to determine which colour printer to buy though because there are a wide variety of options. Here are some things you can do before you purchase a colour printer:

1) Do your research. Don't simply believe the manufacturer, rather obtain an independent review. The internet is a great resource for all these types of things.

2) Check the price of cartridges. Some printers have absurdly costly cartridges while the refilled cartridges may ruin the printer heads. Compare the cost per page, certainly not the actual cartridge cost.

3) Find out about post sales service and maintenance. There is little reason for getting a printer that is going to cost you a lot in maintenance and cause unlimited frustration whenever you try to get some support for a problem.

4) Know what your usage will likely be. Some printers can't manage large volumes of printing so if you are likely to be printing a lot of pages every single day, you will want a more heavy duty colour printer than a home office type printer. Be sure you don't confuse the recommended monthly usage with the duty cycle.

5) What type of stuff are you going to want to do? Each colour printer has various capabilities. Some have the ability to scan and copy and also fax as well as just print - so you actually need all this extra stuff, or are you going to be pleased with just printing out a few pages occasionally? Must you be able to print on both sides of the page or merely one? These extra functions often increase the cost of the printer.

6) What is your budget. You can easily get beguiled into buying a printer with stuff you are not going to use, decide on a financial budget and stay with it. That way you'll be less likely to end up spending a lot more than you can afford.

Be sure you really know what you would like before you go looking for a colour printer. Should you enter into a store and request advice, many sales staff will try and sell you the most expensive machine that they can, rather go there with a number of options in mind which you have researched and discovered to be suitable.
