In a very formal definition, LEGO is "a child's plastic construction set for making mechanical models". According to this definition, LEGO does not sound any fun at all. Children and mechanics simply don't fit in the same sentence. A more proper definition of LEGO could be "set of colored bricks which can be put together in order to create buildings, houses, characters and many other fun things".
Lego is the name of a company based in Denmark, known all over the world for manufacturing these plastic pieces that brought children of many age so much fun over the last years. At first, LEGO was composed of wooden pieces which were a bit heavier for kids to play with all day. Even so, LEGO sets had a huge success amongst kids' creativity. While Lego has made it easier for parent to choose the right gift, things got difficult when this company started making special sets, similar to puzzles, which could recreate specific characters, building and even entire movie scenes. Today, Lego creates blocks which, once put together, resemble famous characters that children have fallen in love with such as Prince of Persia and the forever-famous Harry Potter.
Harry Potter Lego is actually composed of 2 different branches: you can either buy your child LEGO sets that help the recreate scene from the movies or you can buy the necessary pieces to help them build together a small Harry, Ron, Hermione and other famous Harry Potter characters. The sets which recreate scenes are able to do so in great detail, showing children elements which can be found inside buildings and pushing their imagination to greater limits. While sets are more complex and quite difficult for smaller children, Harry Potter LEGO characters are really fun collectible to have and you can buy some extra and place them all around the new Hogwarts castle which your child just helped build.

Prices for Lego sets recreating scenes are a tad more expensive as children have to put together many elements until they can come up with the final setting. In other words, sets are more complex and can keep children occupied for hours. Characters are just like action figures and can be collected and maybe exchanged between friends until every child can have the complete collection of Harry Potter characters made from Lego pieces. You have to admit, with all those X-men and Power Rangers action figures, Harry Potter LEGO really completes the collection!
