Is A Detox Diet Any Good For Weight Loss?

If you've read about a detox diet, or heard about some of the celebrity success with this type of diet you've probably wondered to yourself if it's really a good way to lose weight or not. So let me help you out by sharing my story about trying this type of diet and how it worked out for me.

The first thing I should tell you is that I hate diets, and I hate working out even more. I'm not a fitness buff, and I'm not a calorie counter. I'm just a regular person who needed to lose some weight after the holidays. I had a great holiday season this year, but I guess it was a little too good, because I put on an extra 15 pounds.

Originally I thought I would have to change my diet, start working out and a bunch of stuff like that. I really didn't want to do that, so I was thrilled when I heard about a detox diet from a friend of mine. He recommended I check it out, so I did.

I tried a lemonade detox diet, which was great because it was natural. Plus I love lemonade, so it wasn't bad at all. What I found out though was that there is a lot more to the detox than just drinking lemonade like I had originally thought, but I went ahead and gave it a try, because I had heard good things about it.

So I started off at 168 pounds, and just 2 weeks later I had already lost 12 pounds. I thought it'd take at least 3 months to lose the extra weight that I had put on, but here after just a few weeks I was almost back to my normal body weight. I couldn't believe it, it was awesome.

The diet I tried came with two different versions, and I chose the hard core version. That's probably why I had such extreme results. If I had tried the other method, I don't think I would have lost so much weight.

The real question is did I keep the weight off, or did it all come back which is common with many fad diets. Well there's good news and bad news here. It's common with a detox diet to gain back some of the weight after the diet is completed, so naturally I did gain back some of the weight. The amount that I gained back really wasn't that bad though. I put on 2 pounds a week after I finished the diet.

It could have been because I got right back into eating the same kind of food that got me there in the first place, but I don't really know. Either way, I lost 10 pounds in a month, and I was really excited about it.

I know this type of diet isn't something that could be done long term, but if it could, that'd be crazy how much I could lose in a few months. If you're considering a detox diet, I say just do it. Even if it doesn't work for you, at least you tried something. Plus everyone that I know who has tried a detox lost weight with it, so the worst thing you could lose is a few pounds anyway.
