If you are searching for an area to go deer hunting, the best candidates for information on the local deep population are other hunters, local farmers and ranchers, county agents, game wardens, feed store proprietors and even patrons of the nearest coffee shop or cafe. You are attempting to discover if there are any big deer in the area and if so, where they are located. Don't forget that you are seeking out big bucks, not a lot of smaller deer. Your goal is not to find lots of small deer, of course. We are simply searching only for that monster deer. You have some freedom if you haven't already leased an area, but if you have, learn what areas are best for stands, and where the biggest bucks have been harvested in that area, finding the locations where the largest bucks are seen most often throughout the years. This is a good place to begin. Be cautious : just like fishermen, deer hunters may want to exaggerate their hunts, so double check your stories.
