You can save a lot on energy if you do without a kitchen. Here are some tips for living without a kitchen while cooking your own food.

As the general community is slowly becoming more and more aware of the environment, many people are looking for ways to save energy. In addition, many other people are looking for ways to save energy due to the cost of it.

Some people, and even families, who are struggling financially, choose to move into small apartments without kitchens. This saves them money on rent because there is no kitchen provided, but it also saves them money on energy because they will use fewer appliances.

Those with money would automatically assume that these families would eat out all of the time to replace the kitchen, but that option is too expensive. Instead, these families become creative and learn how to cook food in innovative ways without a kitchen.

Most of the time, they invest in various appliances that will cook a variety of foods while using minimal energy. One of the appliances they may use is a toaster over.

Toaster ovens come in various sizes, so they can make personal meals or meals for larger families. The price of a toaster oven can range from $20 to $60.

These appliances are quite affordable and use much less energy than an entire kitchen would. In toaster ovens you can make toast, bake almost anything that you would normally bake in a larger oven, and so forth.

While they can get quite warm, they are usually not a fire threat or a serious danger to children as long as you warn them. Meat can produce a lot of smoke, so it is a good idea to use it outside or by a window when cooking meat.

Another appliance that does not use very much energy and is fairly cheap is a rice cooker. This is particularly popular among those who like Korean food.

One batch of rice made in a rice cooker usually makes four cups of rice. This also is a good way to heat soup or steam vegetables.

If you get one of these second hand, you will want to watch the steam during its first use. A normal, properly working rice cooker will only give off water in steam.

It if is giving off smoke, there is a problem and it could be dangerous to use. You may want to opt for a simple hot plate in this case.

A hot plate combined with a frying pan and pot can cook practically anything you can cook on a stove. These things are very cheap and do not use very much energy.

They can be found for new at a price of $10. However, you should make sure that lead was not used to make it as this can be dangerous to you or your family.

Another appliance that can be quite useful when you do not have a kitchen is a crock pot. Crock pots are well known for their ability to cook stews.

Stews are a great meal when you are on a low budget because they do not take expensive ingredients. In addition, they are full of water which is a very filling substance and which will make you feel fuller longer.

When you feel fuller longer, you will not need to eat snacks or more of meals. This will save you money on food as well as on energy.

Stews cans also be varied tremendously so that you can enjoy a variety of flavors instead of the same thing every night. These are also quite delicious and flavorful, unlike many bland, but cheap foods.

Crock pots are also quite cheap and will range from $20 to $100 depending on the quality and size you would like. Microwaves are also quite cheap as you can get a small one for $40.

However, microwaves are limited in their ability to cook things unless you are reheating or heating prepackaged items. Prepackaged items are quite expensive and they are probably out of your budget if you are cutting costs by doing without a kitchen.

While they are more expensive, you may also want to purchase a mini fridge. This will be less expensive energy wise than a large fridge, particularly if you purchase an energy star labeled mini fridge.

The energy star label marks appliances that are noted for their efficiency in energy use. Along with these appliances you will need a few kitchen supplies to cook with.

These things may include and oven mitt, spatula, ladle, plates, bowls, cups, silverware, and a mixing bowl. However, you can save on energy and make do without a kitchen if you need to.
