There is no cause for alarm when you have a security system set up due to the secure feeling it provides. This serenity is most likely the single best advantage of having an alarm. You can rest peacefully during the night with the knowledge that you'll be alerted by a siren if there is an intruder in your house, and even your business premises are safe if you are not there. I don't what you think but the safety of my loved ones is extremely important to me and I can't sleep not knowing if they are safe in their beds. Before our security system was installed, I was eternally getting up during the night to check out unidentifiable nighttime noises. I previously had difficulty sleeping when i was gone on business because I worried that my wife, who is a heavy sleeper, would wake to discover thieves in the house with her and the kids. Nowadays I relax when I am away and awaken fresh for the day's grueling round of client meetings simply because I know my family is protected.

However, it is not sufficient to merely put in a security system and forget about it. To have genuine mental comfort from your alarm, you need to use it all the time and ensure of the fact that device is properly serviced; or else the peace encountering is nothing more than a false perception of security. Under no circumstances say to yourself, "I'm just nipping out to the corner shop to get some bread and will not be more than ten minutes, therefore I won't worry setting the alarm". You never know how long criminals have been watching your home and are just waiting for you to drop your guard to enable them to make their move. It could be that all they require is ten unsecured minutes to get on your property and into your home where they will watch for you to come home. There is nothing more serious than getting ambushed at your house and forced to hand over your wedding ring at gunpoint. Regarding maintenance, you should perform routine tests to ensure that the system is in working order. Don't just check that the siren works, telephone your security company to make sure that they have gotten a remote alert off of your equipment and that they respond to it, which brings us to another issue: response to your alarm.

It isn't enough to have a security system on it's own. True peacefulness can only be had from knowing that trained personnel will respond to your alarm. In these unsafe times, neighbours can't be expected to dash in to help, even though you might believe that they would think to call the police. It is also essential that your alarm does not repeatedly 'cry wolf' when you are not home. Nearby neighbors will rapidly become wise to a siren that wails at the drop of a hat andignore it, or they might presume that the security company will come and investigate it anyway, so there's no need to call the police. Make sure that your security system is properly adapted to the surrounding circumstances and you're using indoor sensors inside and exterior sensors outdoors. Inside sensors don't have to stand up to the weather and are usually more delicate. The opposite is true for exterior sensors.
