It is important to be aware of what the common symptoms are for children with ADHD if you are a parent. ADHD needs to be dealt with if your child has ADHD, and a medical professional who specializes in this is the best option. That is the best way to help your child deal with this disorder; otherwise your child will be at a disadvantage in school and in life. The symptoms of this disorder can easily fool many parents though. So often ADHD symptoms can appear to be normal children behavior. The difference between ADHD and the average child behavior can luckily be observed by the parent over time. Today, we'll talk more about this subject and give you three ADHD symptoms in children so you'll have more awareness.

You should focus on multiple behaviors if you feel your child may be ADHD. Also, there are particular qualities to different behaviors, as well, that are important to be aware of. A child with ADHD will show signs of inattentiveness and lack of focus in all areas of their life. It is common to see that child moving form one thing to the next and so on. A hyperactive quality may appear to the behavior. This behavior will remain consistent in your child for a period of six months or more. Behavior over this long of a time frame should be discussed with your physician. Maintaining sufficient attention during activities or even play time is something seen in completely normal activities. Also, remember that commonly children can become easily frustrated with certain activities. A waning attention or interest in this subject is quite normal. But, it really does depend on the task and how important it is to accomplish that task. Normal behavior would see a drop in attention for a task that is not important. However, with something that is important, you would tend to think the attention will be sustained long enough to accomplish whatever the task is.

Another symptom of ADHD is an overall avoidance of mental effort for any length of time. Of course it's important to note that most kids would prefer to play a video game as oppose to mental work. Homework has been a matter of contention among children of any age since the dawn of time. But the average kids can do their homework and are capable of sustaining the mental acuity to do so. Most childrenwith ADHD will have some degree of aversion to work requiring mental acuity or effort. Most often this first becomes aparent when the child begins school.

An evaluation by your family physician is necessary if you feel your child has had these symptoms for a long period of time.
