Of Tamil Indian heritage, Ansari went to school in South Carolina and studied business at NYU. His began performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and in 2005 was listed as Rolling Stone's "Hot Standup." Following graduation he began to tour with music festivals and hit the college campus circuit as well. In 2009 after filming with several various comedy shows and the HBO "Flight of the Conchords," Ansari filmed a DVD for Comedy Central. A year later he reappeared with the DVD/ CD "Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening" before launching his current tour.
