The play entitled the innocents opened at the local theater starring some local talents. There has been a lot of mystical speculations regarding the portrait which hangs at this show's set.
And the long time owner of this picture is someone who maintains anonymity. The lady was said to be traveling down the road when her eyes caught this photo and she had to park and buy it, for reasons even she cannot figure out.
As she stood there waiting for the clerk to take the picture out of the window for her, she thought what am I doing, I can't afford to buy this picture. She remembered needing to buy books, clothes and supplies soon for her kids, who were heading back to school soon.
So she thought to herself first that she will tell the clerk that while it was a beautiful portrait, she just can't afford to purchase it. I just can't afford it, but as the clerk in the antique shop turned to put the picture back in the window she said in a very loud voice, I do want the picture, I can't afford it, but I'm going to buy it.
After paying for it, she hurried out of the antique store still not being able to understand how she forced herself to buy it, and how she was possibly going to explain to her husband her ridiculous compulsion that led to her buying the picture.
Its subject was a Russian wolfhound known as a Borzoi, painted using oil as medium, and it was done in the 1800's or the early 1900's, perhaps.
It was indeed an extremely lovely picture but then for those whose eyes are trained to be familiar with the appearance of the Borzoi, he will have to ask why it was done in such a way that the artist painted it in a straight on manner, with its head and shoulders appearing only. It is also easy to see that the shoulders and chest are not proportioned precisely.
It was a strange fact that the woman, whose eyes were expertly trained of how a Borzoi should appear and knew so much about the breed, still went ahead and purchased it.
She recounted that instead of her husband getting mad about her spending witlessly on the expensive photo, he became mesmerized of it, the same way that she did upon laying her eyes on it the first time.
Many experts and amateurs of photography have chosen this as their subject and yet there never was an instance when two photographs came out alike.
They cannot understand why there would be times that on the Borzoi painting's right side, a spectral face would appear while there are moments when the dog in the picture would look flat then suddenly three dimensional at other times and then there would also be bizarre lights lingering around the portrait and making the person see it to be in color and sometimes, in black and white.
There was a time that the portrait owners were debating whether or not an entity came with the picture, the man replied that I think that we are all just being too imaginative and everything is just caused by some sorts of light reflections for there is nothing mysterious or strange about this wolfhound painting.
It was a wonder how the big round ceramic dish that had hung on the wall fell to the ground but when they got it, there was not a crack for it was still very much intact.
During the time that director of the playhouse who is also its producer, heard about the portrait, he quickly went to the couple who gladly loaned it to him for it would be perfect for his play which was a story of the supernatural.
They shared to the producer that they never got to know who moved into the house on the day this portrait was bought by them and maybe if they loaned it for a show like the Innocents, they can determine who. They can only keep their fingers crossed that this true.
